Nordic Physio treats veterans and eligible family members under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). We bill DVA directly, so there is no out-of-pocket cost or gap for eligible services.
Who is eligible
- Gold Card holders: DVA funds physiotherapy for all clinically necessary treatment.
- White Card holders: DVA funds physiotherapy for accepted service-related conditions.
You may also be eligible as the spouse, widow or dependent child of an eligible veteran, depending on the card you hold. If you are unsure, bring your card and we can check.
Referral and the treatment cycle
You need a referral from your GP or a medical specialist. DVA physiotherapy runs in treatment cycles: each referral covers up to 12 sessions or one year, whichever comes first. At the end of a cycle we send your GP a report on your progress, and your GP decides whether a further cycle is needed. There is no limit on the number of cycles when treatment remains clinically necessary.
TPI (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated) Gold Card holders are exempt from the treatment cycle for physiotherapy.
What we help with
Much of the DVA work we see in Gladstone is long-standing: joint and back pain, the effects of old injuries, balance and falls risk, and rehabilitation after surgery. Treatment starts with an assessment and usually combines exercise with hands-on treatment, plus advice for managing at home. Home visits are available where getting to the clinic isn’t practical.
