Physiotherapy is an important part of recovering from a work-related injury. In Queensland, WorkCover funds physiotherapy for accepted claims to help injured workers recover and return to work safely.
Much of our WorkCover work comes from Gladstone’s industrial and construction sites: lifting and manual handling injuries, shoulder and back strains, and rehabilitation after surgery. We open at 7am so appointments can fit around shifts, and we work with your case manager and employer on a return-to-work plan that matches your actual duties.
Still waiting on your claim decision?
You do not have to wait to start. We will begin treatment straight away and bill you privately in the meantime. Once WorkCover accepts your claim, we bill them for the covered treatment and refund or adjust what you have paid. If the claim is not accepted, the private fees stand, and we will tell you that plainly before we start so there are no surprises.
What’s covered
- Physiotherapy costs: once your claim is accepted, we bill WorkCover Queensland directly for approved treatment.
- Initial treatment: you start with an assessment. WorkCover approves an initial block of treatment, and further sessions can be approved as you progress. We handle those requests for you.
- More sessions: if needed, extra sessions can be approved based on how you are recovering.
- Recovery tools: items like therabands, rollers and braces can be funded when WorkCover approves them as part of your treatment plan. We put the request in and tell you the outcome before you are out of pocket.
What to bring
A work capacity certificate from your doctor, which is the form your GP completes for WorkCover. Bring it to your first appointment, along with your claim number if you have one.
How it works
- Assessment: the physiotherapist checks your injury and creates a treatment plan.
- Treatment: exercise, hands-on treatment, and other methods where appropriate.
- Rehabilitation: improving movement, strength and overall function.
- Return to work: planning a safe return, sometimes with lighter duties at first.
- Teamwork: your physio, WorkCover case manager and employer work together on your recovery.
